Shelby Lawrence

A new addition to the Brookside family, Shelby brings fresh ideas and enthusiasm to ensure fun safe sessions for both our students and our horses.

Shelby has 20 years experience with horses, with 10 years under her belt teaching and training. She credits a year long intense internship with Phil and Orintha Silva of Ten Broeck Farm for her success as a trainer today. Participating in clinics and riding with trainers such as Rodrigo de Costa Matos, Lenden Grey, Jane Hannigan, and others helps to keep her focused and working towards improving her skills and knowledge to bring her to the next level.

Shelby teaches with the approach that there is nothing more important than the basics to help create a safe solid foundation from which to move up from. The ability for a rider to apply classical dressage concepts with common sense horse knowledge can improve any animals performance and enjoyment in its work. Though she is always striving to improve her students and horses, the motto "If it is not fun, you are not doing it right" sums up much of her beliefs. Teaching, training, harassing Ann, and bringing along her 3 yr old TB/QH mare Pipedream keeps her busy fulltime on our farm.
